Lydia Parker prepares to host the monthly Bunco game in her home right before Christmas. Several women in the group refuse to let a paralyzing ice storm keep them away from having their “girl’s night out” and gather to share laughter, stories, and the struggles in their daily lives.
Lydia happily envisions spending her thirtieth anniversary with her husband in Italy, but gets an unfortunate surprise.
Alex’s youngest child heads off to college and compels her to redesign her life.
Childless Patti-Anne battles prolonged depression and a stodgy husband.
Kara and Melanie, young mothers raising their small children, are confronted with unexpected challenges. One, an ugly divorce, and the other an absentee husband with a trunk full of unconvincing excuses.
A complaining Sharon Kay suppresses a hostile relationship with her husband and decides after seventeen years of marriage to turn things upside down.
Not all these women are close friends, but in the course of a year, they develop a deep, supportive friendship with each other. After all, life is messy, and it’s the messy parts that force change and stimulate the most growth.

I so enjoyed reading this book! The characters were realistic and I could see little flecks of myself in each one of the personalities. Some of the situations they dealt with were everyday occurrences (like problems with children or weight) while others were tragic, (like death, betrayal, addiction and mental illness). As a Bunco player myself, I loved how the monthly games brought the women together and how the friendships grew as the year progressed. Lydia's trip to Italy and Patti Anne's missions to Kenya were fascinating and were surprisingly liberating for each of them. I laughed when reading Sharon Kay's wacky ideas for getting her husband and son (and herself) into shape! Melanie's storyline showed the devastating effects that mental illness can have on a family. Kara and Alex both overcame difficult situations with husbands and came out stronger for it - at least I think they did. I can't wait to suggest this to my book club - I think it will be perfect!Product details

Rolling the Dice Women of Reflection Parkway eBook Victoria HermesBond Reviews
I enjoyed the book very much. The story drew the reader in from the beginning and the writing was excellent. I would recommend it it anyone just looking to escape with a good book.
Love the book. I couldn't put it down. I have laughed and cried. It's great to see a book written like that. I will be reading it again.
Very well written book that pulled me in and I found a need to keep reading. The scenes and conversations were so well written, I felt they were in the process of occurring around me as I read.
Great women characters all with different personalities, lives and relationships that become intertwined through their monthly bunco game. You can find parts of yourself in many of the characters. It shows the power of friendships and the support that women need and the emotional journeys that people go through. You will laugh, cry, and totally feel as if you know these women as well. It's a great escape and I couldn't put it down.
I usually do not read fiction, but this book was so enjoyable that I cannot wait for the author to write a sequel! The characters were very real, and once I started reading, I was unable to put it down until I turned the last page. Like with any well written book, I found myself thinking about the characters long after I finished reading. I highly recommend this novel to anyone interested in losing themselves for a few hours in the lives of others!!!
This book speaks to the importance of friendship, especially when couples reach the "empty nest" years. It is a story of the strengths and weaknesses of women at this time in there lives when change becomes necessary for them to find a new calling in life. I would recommend for those who enjoy a light, quick read.
I really enjoyed this book. In fact, I purchased 2 more of them and gave to family members. Being part of many clubs in the past, I could see most of what happened, actually happening. I felt like I was a part of it. And, being from Wichita, I could relate to some of the items about Wichita. I found myself unable to put it down, wanting to see what happened next.
