Drew Webster wants information about a string of burglaries in his beloved uncle's community on Florida's Gulf Coast. Drew can't understand why the developer's liaison and everyone's problem solver, beautiful Jill Stuart, refuses to believe crimes are happening in the first place. She swears the neighborhood is a safe place, but Drew decides to stick around to investigate...and get to know Jill better. A lot better.

If only sexy, deductive, gorgeous Drew would stop poking around and end his visit, she wouldn't have to worry about her job being in jeopardy. She can't lose her paycheck, she's putting her brother through medical school. And, to make matters worse, Drew is right. This is something going on. A resident in the lovely retirement community has sworn Jill to secrecy about an embarrassing financial situation - the woman is pawning her possessions to pay her bills until a CD matures.

Caught between her undeniable attraction to Drew and her solemn promise to one of her residents, Jill is dancing on a razor's edge. She's doing her best not to succumb to the funny, loving, way-too-sexy landscape architect. Her responsibilities to those she cares about leave her little room for falling in love.

The inevitable happens; they become lovers and it's more intimate, more precious than either imagined. Drew now assumes Jill will trust him and admit what she knows about the burglaries. She can't bring herself to disregard her vow to her elderly friend and though it's the hardest thing she's ever done, she turns her back on Drew. But with a man like this, the story's not over.

Wow… that spiraled out of control really fast. I liked the story in the beginning a lot, but as conflicts started to form, I began to get annoyed. By the end, I was ready to throw my reader. It's been awhile since I've read a wall-banger. Everything is one big giant misunderstanding brought about by pride and flaky characters and dragged out. Oh, and I really hated Barbara…

Anyway, this had the makings to be a really great story, and I'm so disappointed that it flopped. And silly me held out hope that it would get better again in the end, but by the time I realized it wouldn't, there were only a handful of pages left. I couldn't see DNF'ing at that point. Ugh, I really can't recommend this one.

A Man Like This edition by Susan Connell Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

I really enjoyed this book of Susan Connell. It had humor, mystery, and of course, romance. The combination of the story plot and characters made it hard to put down. I recommend this to readers to enjoy.
Another steamy, sexy story by Ms. Connell - and I'm all for that! This time on an island off Florida's west coast. Seems a visiting relative (Drew - as in, he's worth drooling over) is concerned his uncle is living in the midst of a crime wave. The community trouble shooter (Jill - a lovely and, romantically speaking, lonely lady) insists everything's okay, no one is getting burglarized in her community. As the mystery moves along, so does their attraction - there's a hilarious scene in the laundry room that turns into a From-Here-To-Eternity charade with a wild, wet coupling on the floor. After a difficult separation, and during a dark and stormy night, their pent up desires are dealt with on the steps of a gazebo. And there are plenty more love scenes where these came from. Their falling in love is a delight to read and, as a bonus, the residents of the community are enjoying it, too. Like certain chili peppers that have surprised me, this story is sweet, hot, and oh so satisfying. 5 stars!
This was a great story..I laughed and I fell in love with the characters who can't love a funny guy.. My only complaint is I wish it was a little longer but that's just me. I wasn't quite ready for it to end. It is a quick read with many funny and steamy parts and love to last all time.
Set in south Florida in a retirement neighborhood our heroine meets the visiting nephew of one of her residents. The romance begins. There is a little bit of mystery as one resident's belongings start missing. This is a light and fun romance as these two come together. An easy breezy read.
